The new FEIN RS 17-70 E Professional Pipe Polisher Kit (replacing the RS12-70E) is a premium, German-engineered and manufactured tube and pipe finishing machine built for professional fabricators who demand exceptional performance, durability, and finish quality. Purpose-built for grinding, sanding, satin finishing, and polishing stainless steel and other metals, the RS 17-70 E combines FEIN's legendary German toolmaking heritage with a specialized belt system designed specifically for stainless steel fabricators, hand rail shops, food and pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers, and anyone producing high-quality finished tube assemblies.
Unlike a conventional grinder that contacts only a small area at a time, the RS 17-70 E wraps a flexible abrasive belt approximately 180 degrees around the workpiece. This allows you to finish the entire 360-degree circumference of a pipe in just two working positions, dramatically reducing finishing time while producing a smoother, more consistent surface. The flexible sanding belt conforms closely to the shape of the pipe and follows bends and contours, helping eliminate uneven spots and directional grind marks that can result from finishing round material with a conventional angle grinder.
The RS 17-70 E is engineered for the demanding daily use expected in professional metalworking environments. From the powerful variable-speed drive to the belt guidance and overall construction, this is a machine designed for shops that value precision, productivity, and long service life—not a light-duty polisher intended for occasional use. The variable-speed motor gives you the flexibility to match the machine speed to the abrasive and the desired finish. Use aggressive sanding belts to remove weld seams, scratches, oxidation, and surface imperfections, then progress through finer abrasives and fleece belts for satin finishing and polishing. With the proper FEIN abrasives and polishing accessories, the same machine can take stainless steel through multiple stages of the finishing process, including preparation for a high-gloss or mirror finish. See the Accessories tab for a selection of belts.
Stainless steel can be unforgiving when it comes to surface finishing. Scratches, inconsistent grain patterns, weld discoloration, and uneven polishing can remain highly visible on the finished part. The RS 17-70 E gives the operator much greater control over the finishing process by maintaining broad, consistent belt contact around the circumference of the workpiece.
Start with the appropriate sanding belt to remove welds or deeper scratches, then progressively move to finer abrasives to establish the desired grain. Fleece and polishing belts can then be used for final surface conditioning. This makes the RS 17-70 E an excellent choice when you need to reproduce a factory-style satin finish or prepare stainless tubing for a highly polished appearance. (See the Accessories tab)
