Mandrel tubing benders are used for tight radius bends with very little distortion in the bend area as seen in exhaust headers and some handrail applications. This is accomplished by supporting the tube on the inside during the bending process. The mandrel is the part of the tooling that goes inside the tube. Bend radii of 1.5 times the diameter of the tube or less can be achieved with very good results.
